RUSSIA SURPASSES BRITAIN (AND FRANCE) IN MILITARY SPENDING

Just a small snippet of news, nothing overly significant (or surprising)

According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), Russia has very recently overtaken the UK (and France) in defence spending to become the third-highest defence spender behind China and the United States. The UK previously held the third-highest defence budget worth $62.7bn (according to SIPRI), but now it holds the fourth-highest, ranked in front of France (in fifth place) and Japan (in sixth).

Can anyone say they're surprised, really?

I was born and raised in Dewsbury in the heart of West Yorkshire, England. At the age of 18, I found I had a keen interest in the British Armed Forces. At every spare moment I had, I would always find myself reading up news stories or information on the British Forces and it's equipment, personnel, strategies and operations. I am aware that a lot of the press and media in the UK is very cynical and has a habit of casting a shadow of negativety over almost every news story regarding UK defence and security. You will not find the same at this blog.

You may recollect my name from other parts of the internet. On YouTube I operate a channel dedicated to the British Armed Forces, where I upload all of my tributes and music videos. I have also signed up to a few defence forums and discussion boards and tried to make a name for myself there.
