Over the weekend, the British Armed Forces paid a massive tribute to their Commander-in-Chief, HM Queen Elizabeth II on her Diamond Jubilee. There was an impressive Muster at Windsor Castle and a flypast of 78 aircraft conducted by all three services. Here are some pictures from that day:
(The images were taken from all over the place, so apologies for the differing sizes and qualities)
ABOVE: The Queen arrives in her specially-built (and also armoured) Bentley State Limousine which she was given as a gift on her previous (Golden) Jubilee.
ABOVE: Among the spectators were the Queen (obviously), the Duke of Edinburgh/Prince Philip, Chief of the Defence Staff General Sir David Richards, Prince Andrew and Princess Anne.
ABOVE: The Queen watches joyously as British Forces aircraft roar overhead.
ABOVE: Royal Air Force and Royal Navy personnel on parade.
ABOVE: Some of the participants.
ABOVE: The Muster. All three services were represented.
ABOVE: What we were all waiting to see: the flypast. Above is an image of the helicopter flypast. Most - if not all - helicopter types in British military service took part in this flypast, even an Apache.
ABOVE: The first in a series of flypasts was conducted by 9 Eurofighter Typhoons of the RAF in a diamond formation, appropriate for the occasion.
ABOVE: 27 Hawk jets of the RAF conducted a very impressive E II R formation, in a special tribute to Queen Elizabeth II's 60-year reign.
ABOVE: A number of World War Two RAF legends also took part in the flypast, including four spitfires and a Lancaster bomber.
ABOVE: 20 Tucano aircraft of the RAF conducted a special '60' formation, in a tribute to the Queen's 60-year reign.
ABOVE: And of course, no flypast would be complete without the RAF's Red Arrows.
An excellent performance and event all-round.
